Iranian Court Drama Movie and the Representation of Crime and Social Harms: Experts' Perspectives

Abstract
Media management is closely related to cinema because it pursues communication with the audience within the framework of established communication patterns. In this study, while explaining the importance of court drama movies in Iran, the role and method of representing crime and harm from the perspective of experts was discussed. This research is qualitative and based on the purpose is applied, through in-depth unstructured interviews with 16 experts in 15 fields of psychology, sociology, law, communication and film and was conducted to examine the role of court drama film in the representation of crime and social harms. The statistical population was the court drama films of the last 4 decades of Iranian cinema, which were selected based on the sensitivity or taboo of the subject as well as the conflict of public opinion (10 out of 22 court drama films, out of a total of 1744 films of the last four decades of Iranian cinema that were analyzed in articles by Saussure semiotics, Bart narrative analysis and three levels of Fisk method). The subjects seen in the movies of the court drama genre of the last four decades are very few compared to the total number of films produced in these years. The reason for the low production of this genre, according to the experts interviewed, was classified into 9 categories. To produce a film in this genre, filmmakers must pay special attention to the components, reflection of reality, utilization of experts in other scientific fields, and judicial restrictions, and censorship, auditing, detraction, and the weakness of the law are some of the components that create barriers to this production.
