Abstract

The present article aims to explain resistive economy policy in the discourse of Iranian leadership. An electronic corpus containing the supreme leader' statements on the nature of resistive economy was collected and consequently studied using corpus-based discourse analysis. This study is important in that it has combined qualitative and quantitative research methods in form of corpus-based discourse analysis and made the theoretical linguistic discussions practical, bridging linguistics with political sciences. Findings indicate that the leader in explaining resistive economy policy has paid much attention to the independence of the country's economy from fossil resources, particularly oil and gas, and supported domestic production. In leader's view, stress over people's role in doing economic activities is very important, because it provides the opportunity to use all domestic talents and capacities for making money and achieving economic power and security. Public teaching on how to use fossil resources, freeing the price of energy as well as enforcing subsidy policy are among policies possibly preventing the waste of energy.
