Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study of the relationship between media consumption and media literacy with political socialization of students of Islamic Azad University of Tabriz. The research was conducted by survey method and data was collected by media literacy, media consumption and students' political socialization questionnaires. The statistical population consisted of 27000 students of Islamic Azad University of Tabriz, who were studying in different fields and degree in the academic year of 2017-2018. The sample consisted of 400 students stratified on gender, degree and field of study. According to the results, there is a significant relationship between media consumption, media literacy and its three dimensions (media awareness or diet, media content analysis and critical thinking) with the political socialization of students of Islamic Azad University of Tabriz. Media consumption, media literacy, and political socialization among the male students were more than the female students.
