A critical reflection on the mechanisms of celebrity culture in the Instagram space of Iranian society

Abstract
One of the most important issues of the day in Iranian society that has occupied the minds of many thinkers and researchers is the issue of fame culture in the Instagram space of Iranian society. The aim of this article is a study on the mechanisms of fame culture in Iranian society's Instagram. The research conducted by qualitative and meta-synthesis method using the seven-stage model of Sandelowski and Barroso (2003). To conduct this research, the results of studies conducted between 2014 and 2015 were reviewed and a number of relevant articles were identified using relevant keywords and out of 446 articles, 95 articles were finally selected according to the criteria of the meta-synthesis method. MAXQDA software was used to analyze the data and content validity and kappa index were used to examine the quality and reliability of the research findings, and the results indicated the desired quality of the findings. The findings of the present study led to the extraction of different codes, and after continuous back and forth, 8 final headings were identified regarding the mechanisms of celebrity culture on Instagram, which in order of frequency are: values and attitudes, typology, pathology, politics, advertising and consumption, lifestyle, identification, religion. The results of the present study showed that celebrity culture in the Instagram space of Iranian society has an impact on Instagram users and legitimizes itself through mechanisms such as engineering emotions and feelings, celebrityization of politics, consumerization of life, deepening individualism, increasing social capital, authority creation, dramatization of everyday life, standardization of the body, transformation of social relations, symbolic violence, and celebrityization of religion.
