Abstract
Fake news is one of the most important challenges in the world today, so that in 2017 this word was chosen as the word of the year, and until today it continues to increase its importance and complexity; Therefore, it is necessary to know fake news and ways to deal with it. mass media can play an important role in identifying and dealing with fake news. The aim of the article is providing a strategy that shows how mass media managers should deal with fake news. The current research was conducted by qualitative approach using grounded theory method. The sampling method was purposive sampling by which 14 experts in the field of news were interviewed. The data was analyzed using open, central and selective coding (including 27 categories and 71 concepts) so that findings and a paradigm model were obtained. In this research, we found 14 strategies to deal with fake news, which are: Strategic planning, organizational monitoring of news, human resources planning of the news department, news verification, cyberspace news monitoring, use of newsroom software, collaborative management, flat structuring in the media, correct and timely decision making, attention to news needs, Official media using the capacity of social media, producing effective content in denying fake news, coordination between managerial roles (editorship) and operational roles (journalism) and coordination between different news groups.
