Abstract
Background: In today world, media management, as one of the key factors in achieving the cultural and social

goals of media organizations, requires multidimensional and indigenous competencies. The Islamic Republic of Iran

Broadcasting Organization, considering its specific missions, requires managerial competencies that have broad

technical and managerial dimensions. Objective: This research was conducted with the aim of examining studies

focused on identifying media management competencies, with an emphasis on the Islamic Republic of Iran

Broadcasting.

Method: The research method is exploratory in nature and in terms of the type of meta-synthesis of previous studies

and content analysis of related studies.

Findings: After implementing the meta-synthesis process on 15 selected studies and analyzing the themes, coding

the data in three stages, first 330 initial codes (basic themes) were extracted. In the second stage, these codes were

categorized into 69 organizing themes. Finally, by merging and integrating the organizing themes, 5 primary

overarching themes were identified. Results: The final analysis of the findings of 15 studies in the meta-synthesis

process resulted in the presentation of three main components (general, technical-specialized, managerial) and five

sub-dimensional components (core competencies, strategic competencies, innovative competencies, technological

competencies, and communication competencies).

Conclusion: From the perspective of foreign studies, the competency indicators of media managers have

comprehensively considered the general, technical, managerial, and commitment-moral dimensions. However, in

domestic studies, the competency indicators of media managers emphasize value-moral competencies, jihadi spirit,

and behaviors.
