Abstract
Radio documentaries with audio narration of culture, history and tourist attractions have the capacity to create a positive and attractive image of a country in the minds of foreign audiences. This research aims to identify the content and form features of radio documentaries in IRIB overseas radios, to introduce the city of Tabriz in a desirable way, a city that has had a special place in the developments of the Caucasus, Anatolia and Iran. The data were collected through library studies and semi-structured interviews with prominent experts and were analyzed, formulated and explained using thematic analysis method. The number of experts was 19 based on the theoretical saturation criterion of the findings. The findings show that 11 overarching themes in two dimensions of content and form play a central role in the production of radio documentaries. The overarching themes in the content area include: history, antiquities and architecture and tourism, literature, art, climate and environment, nutrition and cooking, medicine and health, industry and technology and agriculture, religious tourism, sports tourism. The combined structure of narration and dialogue, the combination of music with narration, the presence of the narrator in the historical environment are also among the organized themes that constitute the overarching theme of the formal and structural features of the radio documentary. The application of these content and formal components can increase the attraction of tourists from the Republic of Azerbaijan to Tabriz, as a "comprehensive city in terms of tourism", and facilitate the development of diplomacy.
