چکیده

مقاله حاضر حاصل بررسی انبوهی از مطالعات و ادعاهای مفسرین درباره تأثیر رسانه‌هاست و نویسنده درصدد پاسخ به این پرسش کلیدی بوده که: «چرا با وجود دهها سال تحقیق و صدها مطالعه، ارتباط بین استفاده مردم از رسانه‌های گروهی و رفتارهای ناشی از آن (بویژه در زمینه خشونت و رفتارهای خشونت‌آمیز مخاطبان)، مبهم باقی مانده است؟». وی با این فرض که تحقیق در مورد تأثیر رسانه‌ها بدون شک، رویکرد نادرستی نسبت به رسانه‌های گروهی، مخاطبانش و به طور کلی جامعه اتخاذ کرده است، ده نقیصه بنیادین را در رویکرد «تأثیر رسانه‌ها»، شرح داده است.
