One of the key factors that can shape public perception of artificial intelligence is mainstream media. The framing of AI in mass media has been one of the prominent topics in the field of communication studies in recent years. The focus of this research is to study the approach of Iran's Amoozesh TV in addressing artificial intelligence. To investigate this issue, the television program "Madhoosh" on Amoozesh Channel has been selected for analysis. The research question is: "How does the television program 'Madhoosh' on Iran's Amoozesh TV frame the risks of artificial intelligence?"
To answer this question, using random sampling, 12 episodes from the first season of this program were analyzed using quantitative content analysis. The research findings indicate that the "Madhoosh" program frames artificial intelligence more as an opportunity than a risk. The risk framing in this program is characterized by: the absence of governance and governing bodies with a focus on users; an overwhelmingly positive and evangelistic approach to teaching AI usage; prioritizing public education while neglecting specialized discussions; and highlighting certain risks (ethical risks, privacy violation, and unemployment) while marginalizing others (fake news, security and cyber threats, and algorithmic bias). Finally, suggestions are presented for producing programs about AI risks, suggesting that a arena should be created where both proponents and critics of AI can present their views to foster critical dialogue on the subject.
