Entering the virtual space of such social networks as Facebook, affects deeply the Iranian students’ identity and their lifestyles due to certain characteristics, options and functions of these media as well as the social, political and cultural status of Iranian students in the transitional context of the country’s metropolitan cities. The present article studies the relationship between using and interacting with Facebook and the students’ rethinking identity. This study is a survey carried out through stratified sampling and the research population consists of Tabriz University students using Facebook. The subjects consisted of 424 students from this university. The findings indicate that there is a significant positive relationship between duration of membership, usage extent, participation extent, the type of facilities, Facebook capabilities and the social media of Facebook.
