Undoubtedly book is the oldest form of media and communications technology. Analysis of the formation and development of media reveals that new technologies have not lead book (traditional media) to be Out of date, instead contributed to development. Nowadays, media such as TV have become an integral part of people live and have had a great influence in shaping the beliefs and attitudes of their audiences in disseminating culture of studying and book reading. This article examining the role of television in promoting book reading in Iran, conducted with a qualitative approach. Data were collected using purposive sampling and through in-depth interviews with 15 people from cultural experts and media. Main categories were extracted after completing the coding process. Experts believe that our country is not desirable in terms of book reading, and also no precise definition of the study has been done yet in the country. Given the extensiveness and popularity of medium TV, it can play an important role in the realization of book reading and it is necessary to create strong ties and interaction between custodians promote book reading and the medium of television to operate of existing facilities in order to promote book reading.
